“If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story”. Orson Welles            As a sculptor, I am fascinated by what physicists call dynamics i.e. the time evolution of physical processes. As a visual interpreter I am interested by cultural notions of perfection. Do we believe that at any given point in time and space, a multitude of things are becoming perfect and then becoming imperfect? Is everything more interesting at the point of perfection or is the changing process itself of interest? To begin with I model a  Form in clay or earth and then I make a mould, normally out of silicon rubber.Once I have the mould I start to add Layers of meaning, by Warping the mould, by the materials I choose to cast the positive in, or the number I produce.I continue to add meaning by bringing together different casts; I see this as a form of Drawing, juxtaposing differing casts to develop a narrative.Once the structure is complete I decorate the surface using a variety of mark making techniques.

The final narrative, I believe, is the dialogue between the underlying structure,  the superficial decoration and the audience.
